When a student is diagnosed with a concussion by an outside provider (Medical Doctor, Chiropractor, Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist) or presents with concussion like symptoms, the school nurse will assess and follow them through each of the 7 steps.

Progress will be communicated with parent/guardian, coach and teachers.

7 STEP CONCUSSION PROTOCOL

Once the 7 step protocol has been completed the parent/guardian will be notified and the final clearance from the concussion will need to be provided by an outside source. (Medical Doctor, Chiropractor, Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapist). The school nurse cannot provided the final clearance.
