Welcome to Computer Class!
Hello dear 2nd grade students! I am so excited to welcome you to our computer class. This year, we will have so much fun exploring technology, playing educational games, and learning in simple and exciting ways. We will also discover robots and see how they can move, light up, and even follow our instructions. Plus, we will enjoy creative STEAM projects where we use Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math to imagine, build, and explore. Get ready to tap, and learn while having lots of fun together!
Second grade students will create an interactive project using ScratchJr on their iPads, using tools like characters, backgrounds, movement, sounds, and speech to build a complete story or animation. Their project should show coding, creativity, and sequencing, with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
In this fun computer class, second graders will continue building their coding skills using ScratchJr. Since students already have experience with coding and completed Code.org Course A, they are ready to explore even more creative possibilities! They will design animations and short interactive stories by combining colorful programming blocks to control how characters move, jump, and interact.
Students will explore Code.org to strengthen their logical thinking and learn how to create sequences, patterns, and creative solutions 💻. Through interactive challenges, they will discover that coding is not just using a computer… it’s learning how to think like a programmer!
In Computer Class, 2nd graders strengthen their coding skills by using Joe Lost from ABCya to plan steps, make predictions, and solve challenges. Through sequencing and computational thinking, students learn to think ahead, test solutions, and adjust their plans—just like real coders.
This week, 2nd grade students will use their typing skills and recall computer class vocabulary to create their own word search. After building it, they will play the word search and then use the words to make digital word clouds. This activity promotes typing fluency, vocabulary retention, creativity, and higher-order thinking through technology-based learning.
In Computer Class this week, students will review their typing progress from November and reflect on how they’ve mastered the Home Row keys. During our My Favorite Mistake Talking Circle, they will write responses to three reflection questions about their typing journey—what they learned, what challenged them the most, and how they grew. To end the class, we’ll compete in the Super Santa Jr. challenge and try to claim the highest score in the grade!
This week, we’re starting with an exciting typing challenge! Head over to RoomRecess.com and test your lightning-fast fingers with Alpha Quick. Let’s see how speedy and accurate you can be… are you faster than a cheetah on a keyboard? 🐆
But that’s not all! After our typing mission, we’ll switch gears and practice using our Chromebook trackpads with the Click Speed game. Get those clicking fingers ready — it’s time to tap, click, and zoom your way to victory! 🖱️⚡
Let’s make today a super fun tech adventure! 🎉💻
This week in Computer Class, our 1st Grade students will use ABCya Story Maker to create their own Thanksgiving card. They will draw a picture, write a short message, and share why they are thankful. We can’t wait to see their sweet and creative cards!
Then, once they finish their card, they will be able to play and compete in teams with the games Thanksgiving Word Search and Turkey Touchdown from ABCya before the break. 🦃🎉
This week in Computer class, Second Graders will continue using EDClub’s Typing Jungle to complete their typing lessons for the 2nd partial. They’ll practice the bottom row keys while exploring the jungle and improving their typing skills! ✨
This week in Computer class, Second Graders will continue using EDClub’s Typing Jungle to complete their typing lessons for the 2nd partial. They’ll practice the top row keys while exploring the jungle and improving their typing skills! 🐯✨
This week in Computer class, Second Graders will start using EDClub’s Typing Jungle to complete their typing lessons for the 2nd partial. They’ll practice the home row keys while exploring the jungle and improving their typing skills! 🐯✨
This week, second graders will visit different Halloween-themed stations around the classroom, where they will play fun and spooky games that challenge their keyboard skills! Each activity will help them review everything they’ve learned about typing while celebrating the Halloween spirit. As an optional activity, students can also practice their typing skills with the Cup Stack Typing game from ABCYA! ⌨️
This week, our 2nd graders will practice using all the rows of the keyboard while playing Typing Rocket Jr. from ABCYa. They will try to earn the highest score possible by typing quickly and accurately — without looking at the keyboard! Their goal is to show how much their typing skills have improved!
This week, students will learn which fingers are used to type each letter on the computer keyboard. They will also practice their typing speed and learn how to keep the correct hand position while typing on their Chromebooks.
Students will practice their keyboard skills by using the Keyboarding Challenge from ABCya, learning the functions of each key while having fun competing and improving their typing speed.
Second grade students will begin practicing how to use the keyboard and explore the different functions of each key as they become confident digital writers.
In the next step of the project, students will continue exploring ABCya Story Maker to design their own story page. They will write short sentences about what the Honduran flag represents, illustrate their ideas with colorful drawings, and personalize their work with creative details. This extension not only strengthens their writing and artistic expression but also encourages them to share pride in their country while developing confidence in using digital tools.
Our 2nd grade students will use ABCya Story Maker to create a special project where they draw the national flag of Honduras, write the pledge to the flag, and decorate their flag with a creative landscape. This activity allows them to combine art, writing, and patriotic values while practicing their digital skills in a fun way.
In Computer class, 2nd graders will review how to use their Chromebooks correctly and responsibly. We will practice basic shortcuts and explore important features, log in and log out safely, and learn about safe habits when using the internet. Let’s become smart and responsible digital citizens!
Last week in Computer class, 2nd graders finished building their Drop and Rescue project with WeDo 2.0. Now, it’s time to move on to the coding part! Using the Chromebook, students will explore what each programming block is used for and create the code that will bring their project to life.
Our second graders will be building the Drop and Rescue Project using WeDo 2.0. They will not only construct the model but also bring it to life by creating the coding program that makes it work! This hands-on experience will help them learn teamwork, problem-solving, and the basics of robotics and programming in a fun and engaging way.
Welcome to our 2nd Grade 1st Quarter Robotics Project! Students will be using LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 to design and build a rescue mission project. Get ready for some creative problem-solving and teamwork as we bring our robots to life!
