Greetings, Fratres, Sorores and Friends of AMORC!
It came as quite a surprise when I was asked to consider serving as Grand Councilor for the Colorado Region AMORC when there are so many who are better qualified. It was a bigger surprise that my Inner Master urged me to answer this call, and to apply what abilities I can muster to support the good of the Order in Colorado. Perhaps others who have so served in the past had similar reservations. I will do my best, and hope that with the support of the members in the region, things will go well.
Meditation is an important daily practice for we who tread the path of the mystic. Our Rosicrucian principles provide guidance in this practice, especially when one wishes to attune with the Cosmic and to receive inspiration and direction. I started a recent meditation with this goal in mind. The beginning was active, and focused on the question of right-action. As often seems to happen, after a few minutes of focus I found myself shifting into a receptive state that for me brings a particular imagery and energy that can only come from Cosmic attunement. When the meditation ended some half-hour later, this one message remained: “Be True”.
Be True? It seems simple enough. Seek truth. Be honest. I’ve tried to do this as long as I can remember. But is there something more to it? After several days of reflection, I have begun to realize that “Be True” has a significance that intersects every plane and aspect of our existence. Be true to the Rosicrucian path. Be true to your goals (or, as our every lesson says, “defer not to the evening what the morning may accomplish”). Be true to your family and friends. Be true in dealings with others. Be true to your word. Be true to Nature and its expression in you and the world you inhabit. Be true to the things you hold sacred. Be true to the virtues of the Soul and its evolution within you. Finally, as Polonius says in the first act of Shakespeare’s Hamlet: “This above all: to thine own self be true”.
I will endeavor to “Be True” in serving as Grand Councilor, and trust that this guidance will on all levels help me to Serve you well.
May you experience the most profound sense of Peace!
Bill Hallett
