“Let our hearts be stretched out in compassion toward others, for everyone is walking his or her own difficult path.”—Dieter F. Uchtdorf
“If we threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.”—Regina Brett
Greetings from the East!
Even in less trying times it is easy to feel like the turbulent tides of our own troubles are washing us far from the warm and comfortable lands. How much more difficult it can then feel now. It can be tempting to “circle the wagons” psychically, withdrawing and conserving strength to protect ourselves.
To mix metaphors, of course, you must first put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. Remember though, that it’s “before helping others” not “instead of helping others.” They are worried and anxious just as we are, and possibly with fewer tools than us to sort things out.
We now head into the season of ever dimming light on the physical plane. In the cold that follows, the discerning eye of the Mystic sees that the cold bears the seeds of what comes next, for the light is already returning. May this perpetual Mystical Symbol remind us that the troubles of today will also pass and hearth fires remind us of the burning heart of compassion we must keep lit for our fellow travelers.
I hope we may see each other soon.
Wishing you all Peace Profound,
