Students studied persuasive writing through the unit, Writing Reviews under Teacher's College Writing Workshop. Students wrote a variety of reviews about their favorite places, movies, characters, food, even books! As a culminating activity, each student was asked to pick his/her favorite review from the unit to create a book on Book Creator. A sample of creations are listed below. Visit the link to see each of our reviews.
The students did a wonderful job with this project. They worked hard to think of topics they are passionate about and their favorite places or things. The students were able to have their own voice, convincing their readers to agree with their opinions. It was nice to see a variety of level of writers become eager to create persuasive writing pieces. To improve this project for the future, I would encourage the students ensure they incorporate proper structure of writing, such as introduction followed by their reasons and wrapping up with a conclusion.
Students worked on our fifth writing unit for Teachers College Writing Workshop, "Scenes to Series". Students were tasked with creating a realisitic fiction chapter book in which his/her character goes on an adventure but gets into trouble! As a culminating project, students utilized Pixton to create a digital version of their realistic fiction chapter book.

It was nice to see a variety of level of writers become excited to engage in the writing process. To improve this project for the future, I would encourage the students to take risks to add craft moves such as speech bubbles, thought bubbles, and a variety of punctuation marks.
