The Senior Project has been a tradition at Amity High School for the past 28 years. The project allows all students to select a topic of their own choosing and pursue a study of it to develop professional and lifelong skills. It was adopted as a requirement for graduation by the Amity School Board and instituted in 1996, in part as a means to ensure that all Amity graduates have achieved professional levels in writing, reading, public speaking, and organization. Since that time the Oregon State Board of Education has mandated professional/career standards that are met by the Senior Project. In addition to satisfying the state and district requirements, the Senior Project allows students to really focus on their own interests and goals with the intent of developing genuine skills that will be used in their individual futures.
