ACPS believes that when schools, parents, families, and communities work together to support learning, students are more likely to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, enroll in higher-level programs, and graduate prepared to engage their world.
The Amherst County School Board provides a competitive salary and fringe benefit program for all employees of the public school system.
Experience is the determining factor in establishing individual rates of pay with graduate degree supplements

Counseling services are available through the All Points Employee Assistance Program of Central Virginia

Mentor Teacher program to support teachers in their first two years in ACPS
Annual leave, or vacation, is provided for all 12-month employees
Sick leave is granted on the basis of one (1) day for each month of employment, or 10 days for the regular 10-month contract (full-time employee). Sick leave, to a maximum of 90 days, may be transferred from other public school systems in Virginia
Professional leave is on a request-grant basis
Two personal leave days are granted annually to full-time personnel
Participation in the Virginia Retirement System for all full-time public school personnel
Upon retirement from ACPS, all personnel who have been employed in ACPS for a minimum of 5 consecutive years will be paid for unused sick leave, up to 100 days
