Camp Bournedale is a 3-day, 2-night field trip to the camp located in Plymouth, MA. We ride down to camp in coach buses. The children live in well-constructed, heated dormitories containing toilet facilities and showers. Parent chaperones will be needed to stay in the cabins with the children during the evening. The children are under the direct supervision of the Bournedale teaching staff during lessons. The AMS teachers, because of their knowledge of the children, will be responsible for any social or behavioral problems. Camp staff is primarily responsible for teaching. A qualified camp nurse and infirmary are available at all times on property. The camp experience is integrated with the 6th grade curriculum and is primarily focused on Science content. Students take a variety of classes ranging from Marine Lab or Rocketry as well as team-building activities with Project Adventure. They are given three meals a day plus snacks and can usually get seconds or more. The kitchen staff is also very accommodating to any dietary needs or restrictions as long as we are notified ahead of time. Students should not be bringing any food, snacks, candy, gum, etc. from home unless it is due to a dietary restriction that has already been discussed with the nurse and coordinators. Students will also have free recreation time to play street hockey, basketball, dodgeball, arts and crafts, etc.
