Section 1: Inquiry Question and Concept Exploration
Inquiry Statement: How can I use color, shape, and line to transform a flat surface into a dynamic, three-dimensional form?

Section 2: Connection
This artist is a well-known and recognized Dutch still-life painter. He painted realistic pieces with oil-based paint, depicting natural flower arrangements. This is because he highlighted the beauty and fragility in nature, as well as the cycle of life and death.
In this specific example, we can see that the source of light resembles an open window in a dark room, and we can notice that the flowers bloom towards the light. These are themes that I could consider exploring too.

Title: Dinner memories
Size: 33 x 28
Why: The scene this piece is inspired by is a picture of a very special New Year's dinner. Last year was my first celebrating the holidays away from my family and my home. I took the picture because I realized that even though I was very far away, that New Year's Eve was still so beautiful.
Section 6: Communicate and Reflect
This has been by far my favorite project of the year. I loved experimenting with different mediums and materials, as well as having ample time to try things again and again until I get the desired result. I think my piece has a lot of charm and I am very proud of it, even though it doesn't look like the picture it was inspired by. My favorite medium to use was oil pastel.
