Section 1: Inquiry Question and Concept Exploration
Inquiry Statement: How can I use color, shape, and line to transform a flat surface into a dynamic, three-dimensional form?
Respond: By changing different tones of the same color and thus creating a pallet, you can give the illusion of a 3D shape.
Section 2: Connection
Not Sorry Art - Sari Shryack
Even though this piece is not a disco ball, it caught my eye with how creative it is to portray an ashtray in that style. I wanted to chanell that creativity and to achieve the color variety the smoke has.
Section 3: Investigate
With this activity, we explored the colorwheel and understood more about the different tones, shades, and mixes.
Section 4: Create
Section 5: Final Artwork
Title: Disco Dreams
Size: 30cm x 30cm
Why: I chose a pink disco ball because it's my favorite color. It's bright, happy, but also has many different shades that can communicate many different feelings.
Section 6: Communicate and Reflect
I am not very satisfied with my work. The 3D effect is not fully there and the borders aren't complete. Nonetheless, it's not too bad for being one of the first if not the first time I've touched acrylic paint. Still, I think I could have done better with the different color tones and created shadows and bright spots through that.
