Greetings, dear readers! We are excited to bring you the latest update on an upcoming event that promises to be an enriching experience for high school and higher secondary students across Kerala. As the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, it is out pleasure to introduce you to the JCJ Memorial Quiz, scheduled to be held on the 14th of November 2023 as a part of National Metallurgist's Day '61.
The JCJ Memorial Quiz is a special event conducted in memory of Jibin C Jacob, an esteemed Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. This quiz aims to celebrate his contributions to the field of engineering and to provide a platform for young, aspiring minds to showcase their knowledge and skills.
One of the distinguishing features of this competition is that it is exclusively designed for school students. We believe that nurturing the curiosity and talents of the younger generation is crucial for the advancement of science and engineering. By limiting participation to high school and higher secondary students, we aim to encourage their interest in metallurgy, materials science, and related disciplines from an early age.
The JCJ Memorial Quiz is a team competition, with two members per team. To ensure accessibility and participation from all corners of Kerala, there will be two stages of the competition:
On-site Registration: Students can register on the day of the event at the Amal Jyothi College of Engineering Auditorium or Pre-register in the Google Form provided below
Preliminary Rounds: In addition to on-site registration, preliminary rounds will be held in schools located near our college. This approach allows students from various regions to participate without the hassle of traveling long distances.
The competition itself will consist of three rounds:
Prelims: The initial round will test the teams on their knowledge of "Materials in Daily Life."
Main Quiz: The second round will delve into "Fundamentals in Physics and Chemistry."
Final Showdown: The top teams will compete in a thrilling finale, featuring questions on "Space Materials."
Generous Prizes and Sponsorship
Thanks to the generous support of our sponsor, the Indian Institute of Welding-India, Cochin Chapter, the JCJ Memorial Quiz offers prizes worth a total of ₹10,000 to the winning teams. We appreciate their commitment to fostering education and knowledge in the field of metallurgy and materials science.
