#StarsInShelter

Reading is fundamental for students with learning differences in grades 2 to 5. We use the System 44 Next Generation and Read 180 curriculum to get students to read books at their independent reading level. They did activities related to the book and then took an online quiz. When they passed the quiz, the students were able to decorate a star that we posted on our classroom wall. Sadly, that activity stopped when the classroom was closed. Or was it?

With the support of the many parents and guardians working with these students, Mr. Tan and Mrs. Vidana have been able to work with various students in their homes on Read 180 and System 44 Next Generation curriculum and the students have been passing the tests during the Covid-19 school closure.

On this page, we'll put the stars on display as well as for the names of the books that they read as students finish their stars and then print them out and put them on display in the classroom as proof that students can become self-driven in their education when it was taken away from them.
