This unit describes how and when Teams and Alliances can earn points in VEX IQ Robotics Competition.
Learning Outcomes
Alliances and Teams earn points in VIQRC Mix & Match by Connecting Pins and Beams to build Stacks, clearing Starting Pins, and placing Stacks in/on Matching Goals. Each of these ways to score has specific criteria that must be met for points to be awarded.
Read the next two segments of Section 2: "Scoring" and “Scoring Examples”—of the VEX IQ Mix & Match Game Manual now, and stop when you reach the segment titled “Safety Rules.” Then read the article "Methods of Recording a VIQRC Match Score" and learn how to score and submit a Match score electronically and on paper.
After completing this unit, you should be able to:
Explain how objects are scored when Driver input and Robot motion continue after the end of a Match
Evaluate whether a Pin or Beam is Connected
Determine whether a Starting Pin is Cleared
Describe the requirements for a Stack to be Placed in a Matching Goal
Identify all ways a Team or Alliance can earn points during a Match
Calculate points earned by a Team or Alliance during a Match
Understand how Matches are scored and submitted electronically or on paper
