The Mighty Maverick Marching Band has been a consistent Texas UIL Region Marching Contest sweepstakes award winner since 2013 with multiple appearances at the UIL Area E Region Contest. Everyone enrolled in band is expected to fully participate the entire marching season, as it is part of the full-year curriculum. The marching program has grown to a 200+ member 6A Varsity ensemble, which includes Colorguard and Percussion. The marching band is typically led by 4 drum majors and approximately 30 other student leaders. The ensemble consists of two groups for the wind players: Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV). Varsity members will march and play the marching show for the entire season. JV members will have the opportunity to shadow a varsity marching spot throughout the season in the event that they will be switched out with that marcher through elegibility circumstances or a challenge.This Fall of 2026, the marching band will be returning to the Bands of America competition in San Antonio for the first time since 2014. Below are the expectations of all members of the marching band:
On-time attendance during class, all after school rehearsals, clinics, and performances, including any football games or contests during the Fall Break.
Completion of all marching pass-offs and scale pass-offs by the due date.
Assessment of proficiency and improvement of the student on their instrument.
Maintain academic eligibility.
Comliance with correct attire and safety requriements (water jugs, sunscreen, athletic shoes)
Comply with all Manvel High School Band policies.

The Wind Ensemble is the varsity ensemble at Manvel High School with consistent superior ratings in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation. Students in this ensemble have advanced skills on their instrument and commitment to individual practice time. This ensemble requires an audition and selection by the directors at the end of every semester. The Wind Ensemble meets every 2nd period. Below are the expectations of every member in the Wind Ensemble:
Attendance during class, after school rehearsals, sectionals, masterclasses, clinics, and performances.
Preparation and participation of the All-Region band music during the fall semester.
Solo and Ensemble evaluation hosted at the high school.
Completion of all marching pass-offs and scale pass-offs by the due date.

The Symphonic Winds is the non-varsity ensemble at Manvel High School with consistent superior ratings in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation. Students in this ensemble are developing and refining their skills on their instrument with frequent individual practice time. This ensemble requires an audition and selection by the directors at the end of every semester. The Symphonic Winds meet every 1st period. Below are the expectations of every member in Symphonic Winds:

The Symphonic Band and Concert Band are the sub non-varsity ensembles at Manvel High School with Symphonic Band earning consistent excellent and superior ratings in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation. Students in these ensembles are continuing to work on their fundamental instrument skills with encouragment on individual practice. This ensemble is open to all band students and requires an audition by the directors at the end of every semester. These ensembles may or may not attend competitive events depending on instrumentation, eligibility, and music preparation. The Symphonic Band meets every 3rd period, and Concert Band meets every 4th periods. Below are the expectations of every member in the Symphonic Band and Concert Band ensembles:
Attendance during class, after school rehearsals, sectionals, masterclasses, clinics, and performances.
Preparation of a portion of an etude from the All-Region etude books.
Solo and Ensemble evaluation hosted at the high school.
70% completion of all marching pass-offs and scale pass-offs by the due date.

The Color Guard/Winter Guard is open to all Manvel High School students. This class meets every 5th and 6th period and is responsible for preparing and performing routines for marching competitions, pep rallies, parades, and various community service opportunities for the fall semester. Every member in guard participates in the marching band season. The Spring semester is dedicated to winter guard, where students perform in at least 4 Texas Color Guard Circuit competitions across the Houston area. There are two groups during the winter guard season, Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV). At the end of the Fall semester, students will audition for Varsity or JV through an assessment of skills and selection by the director. Membership carries the following responsibilities:
Attendance at all rehearsals, clinics, football games, marching contests, and winter guard competitions.
Attendance at all the summer guard camps.
Satisfactory performance of the materials assigned for performance and /or competition.
Maintain academic eligibility.
Abide by the Mavguard policies.

The percussion program at Manvel High School starts at the 6th grade level with our Junior High feeder schools. At the end of 8th grade, students will audition for drumline or front ensemble at the fall semester. Every member of the percussion program participates in the marching band season. During the fall semester, snare and tenor players meet during 1st period, front ensemble players meet during 2nd period, and bass drum players meet during 3rd period. Students will re-audition for spring band placements at the end of the fall semester through an audition packet that reflects the All-Region etudes. Starting in January, each class period will participate in percussion ensemble. Students will prepare music that will be performed at the Percussion Concert in February. Membership carries the following responsibilities:
Attendance at all rehearsals, clinics, football games, marching contests, and concert performances.
Attendance at all the summer percussion camps.
Satisfactory performance of the materials assigned for performance and /or competition.
