All students and directors must attend critique.
The Contest Manager must be notified before the day of the contest if a participant will miss the critique. Missing critique requires approval: should a conflict arise, directors should complete this form on the UIL website prior to contacting the Contest Manager.
For Region III-6A Contest:
Critique will occur as it did at the Area level of contest: at the conclusion of all performances but before the beginning of the awards ceremony in the PAC auditorium. There will be assigned seating as determined by the contest manager's draw of order of critiques. Please allow one row for the judge to stand in front of students and directors; supporters may sit behind the competing students to silently listen to their school's critique. We encourage all participating directors to prepare their students and performers for this experience -- as three schools will be receiving critique simultaneously, we will need to remain mindful of noise levels within the auditorium.
Schools are labeled A-C to indicate which adjudicator is issuing critique, and 1 and 2 to indicate the order to receive critique. This draw is separate from performance order and will be conducted by the Contest Manager at the conclusion of all performances.
A - Eric Vera
B - Jill Ludington
C - Allen Otto
Students should remember that they are representing their campus. They are ambassadors of good will and should model respectful behavior with all competition participants. Teachers/directors should have (multiple) conversations with students regarding their behavior. We cannot expect students to know what is acceptable or what isn’t unless we teach them.
