Anahi Montero Borunda is an Alverno College senior student. Her area of study is Studio Art with a minor in Creative Studies in Writing. She has drawn since she was young but did not take art seriously until a very particular high school art project – sketching a banana with a toothpick. It was after that project that her art instructor told Anahi she should pursue art in the future.
Anahi has always been interested in creative writing. In her early academic career, she was weighing whether to pursue creative writing as a minor. In her second year here at Alverno, one of her classes final assignment was to create a story based on our vision of the afterlife. She wrote two stories and was very moved and encouraged by the instructors praises. This was the pushing point that made Anahi register as a Creative Studies in Writing minor student.
Had it not been for her instructors words of encouragement and compliments, it is hard to pinpoint where she would be today. Perhaps she would still be drawing and writing but as a hobby instead. Maybe she would not even be doing either. But rather than focusing on the "what if’s", Anahi will now question, "what now?" and "what’s ahead?"
