A-100 Mid-Semester Event (Spring 2024):
During my freshman year of college, in my spring semester, I was involved in planning the art departments mid-semester event. Along with multiple other students, we met once a week leading up to our mid semester assessment week to plan an event for art majors to join together as a community and make art. This involved planning a timeline, discussing theme ideas, discussing time management, and overall goals for the event. The group had landed on doing a pre-event to draw exquisite corpse drawing as groups which would later be chosen to create sculptures out of in our main event. We allotted one hour to sculpt and mold our foam clay, and one hour to paint the sculpture. On the side, we had activities such as henna and friendship bracelet making for students who finished up early or needed a break from the main activity. Overall, the event was mostly successful, though if anything could have been done differently, rather than drawing as our pre-event, we create armatures for the sculptures instead as it allows more time for molding the clay.

A-100 Mid-Semester Event (Spring 2025):
In my second year at college, I was once again on the planning committee for the A-100 event. This time I was led in planning as this had been my second experience planning this event. Along with multiple other students, we met once a week leading up to our mid semester assessment week to plan an event for art majors to join together as a community and make art. This involved planning a timeline, discussing theme ideas, discussing time management, and overall goals for the event. Toegther, our group descided that now more than ever we need community and brave/safe spaces. In our current political climate, a lot of students had been left feeling stressed. We wanted to reduce that by allowing artists to show up, create, and leave their stressors at the door. We wanted to reaffirm the idea of community and hope, using the Martin Luther King Quote, "only in the darkness, can you see the stars". Our theme was star gazers, and we created wearable art, as long as a community mural to create multiple visual examples that students have a community and they are not alone.
