As I progressed through my college coursework at Alverno College, I had the opportunity to explore and experiment with a wide range of 3D art mediums that were previously inaccessible to me. Through my studies in 3D Design, Book Arts, and Fiber Arts Studio, I’ve developed a growing and diverse body of work that reflects my evolving skills and creative interests. These courses allowed me to explore materials such as wire, foam core, ceramics, carving, and both low and high relief sculpture, as well as more tactile, process-driven media like fibers and book structures. This collection represents the best of my 3D work to date, and it will continue to expand as I take additional studio courses and deepen my exploration of form, texture, and function.
3-D Design:
My 3D design course introduced me to a broad range of sculptural techniques, including low and high relief, wire sculpture, foam core construction, ceramics, and carving. These projects challenged me to think spatially and work hands-on with materials to transform ideas into dimensional forms. Each piece reflects a step in my growth as a maker, pushing my understanding of structure, composition, and material potential.
Fiber Arts Studio:
Fiber arts is a medium that I connect with deeply, both academically and personally. I use fiber work as a creative outlet outside of class to unwind and reflect, and my Fiber Arts Studio course helped me formalize and expand my techniques. This is an ongoing and evolving collection of fiber artworks, incorporating both course projects and personal explorations that blend craftsmanship with emotional expression.
Book Arts:
My Book Arts course allowed me to explore the intersection of storytelling, structure, and design. I was particularly drawn to book forms that can evolve, wire-bound books, three-ring binders, and folded books, because they offer flexibility for growth and change. These book structures reflect my journey, as they can be undone and reconfigured to accommodate new ideas, much like the creative process itself.
