Not Guilty
Not Guilty was an LGSA-run student magazine, inspired by the experiences of members who attended the 1987 National March on Washington. Keith Haring designed the cover of the first edition, which was published in 1988. It was a more public space than the journals where LGBTQ students could share articles, interviews, editorials and creative writing with a wider audience.

Oral History Quote
So [Not Guilty] came out of the March on Washington, and sort of this intense feeling like, “This could be a different world. This could be a welcoming world,” and being really frustrated that it wasn't. And there was so much administrative headwind at Brown, even though Brown was at the time, and continues to be, sort of a liberal bastion. Like, if we weren't welcome there, where are we welcome? And so I think Not Guilty was, you know, a bit of a cry into the void about what we needed and wanted, and also a really strategic and thoughtful list of issues and problems that we were facing. It also had some fiction and poetry in it.
-Bill Jesdale speaking about the emergence of Not Guilty after the March on Washington
