1st Nine Weeks-
Students will focus on multiple-tier timelines, the use of geographic tools and latitude and longitude, comparing regions and data sets, and evaluating and using sources as evidence. The nine weeks will conclude with humans' interactions and physical environments.
2nd Nine Weeks-
Throughout this nine weeks, students will look at economic choices and consequences, how specialization leads to global trade, analyze different systems of government, and study the movement of people, products, and ideas around the globe. Students will also be introduced to one of the earliest civilizations in the Eastern Hemisphere, Mesopotamia.
3rd Nine Weeks-
The early civilizations of the Eastern Hemisphere, including Ancient Egypt, India, and China, will be a strong focus of this nine weeks. Students will look at each of the civilizations' geographies, accomplishments, writings, governments, and economies.
4th Nine Weeks-
After learning about the four major river civilizations, students will have the opportunity to compare these locations as well as look at the impact they each have on our world today. The five major world religions will be a focus, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. The conclusion of the year will be economic decision-making and the consequences in the modern world.
