Title: Expression through the Arts
By: Sarah Al Ruhaili
Introduction: Exhibition
Do you know what expression through Art is? Art is making shapes and coloring that everyone can do. I wonder how art can change? That inquiry leads to more and more questions. So you can get information for the things you like. From that we got three lines of inquiry. What is art? What can art express? And what do people see behind the arts?
Line Of Inquiry 1: What is Art? :
Art is just different shapes and colors. I chose this because I wonder about different types of Art that are not known yet or a very old technique of Art. Of course I know some Art forms and styles. Some of them are: drawing, painting, sculpture, design , music and dancing. Drawing is taking a pencil and making lines to have your own art piece. Painting is taking paint and getting it on a canvas or a paper by putting the paint on a brush or straight out of the bottle. Sculpture is clay being shaped, baked and painted. Music is a tune or a sound that you can add words to. Finally dancing is moving around in a rhythm.
Line Of Inquiry 2:
What can Art express? :
My second line of inquiry enabled me to research about the things that art can express. I really wanted to know how people express themselves and their emotions in an Art style they like. I also want to encourage people to express themselves and feel comfortable in what they are doing. Art can express feelings, beliefs, character and most importantly emotions. Also Art can be a method of communication to a friend or to live on cherished. It can also be a metaphoric art piece to symbolise an object to a huge different meaning. Jane Hirshfield has an Art piece that can be seen as a metaphor. What a metaphor will look like is how you see it and what you think the back story is. That is why metaphors are really interesting to look into.

Line Of Inquiry 3: What do people see behind Art? :
What do people see behind Art? This question sparked interest in me. I really wanted to know what people like to see in other peoples' art or even their own art. How would it make them feel? What do they like about it? What is the point of that art piece? Is there anything that stands out in the art piece? Has anyone seen anything like this? I still have a lot of questions from other people's perspective. But from my perspective I just have to know within myself what I like , what I dislike and absolutely hate. What I usually get thrilled by is a messy kind of style. It usually has a lot of color lines and sketches which I find interesting to watch and interesting to do.
Action: Taking action:
In this inquiry I was urged to take action by what I discovered. What I really wanted to do for the action is make a painting. My vision of the painting that I saw in my head had a lot of emotions. The artwork was very neat. I wanted the art work to persuade people to express themselves. I want to encourage people to be happy with what they are doing. A lot of people don't feel confident or comfortable in expressing themselves. I think art expression could help those people because people won't easily know who you are if you share it.

I believe the end of this whole project will be very relieving. Because I had a lot of pressure to work hard and archive plans. Some people let me down in this inquiry but I learned something from it. I learned that people have to do their own part and not depend on other people to do it--. The work does not get easier and I still don't feel it will get easier.
But some of the mentors helped me through this. Our principal really helped me through this too. In the end I really feel happy that this is ending very soon and I am happy about what I did in the project.
