Hey there everyone! I wanted to share a bit about myself and how I came to be a librarian.
I had a great childhood. I am the fifth of six children and am a proud Army Brat. I have three sisters, two brothers, and my mom and dad. Since my dad was in the United States Army I grew up all over the US. I've lived in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Colorado, New York, and now Utah. Moving around growing up was hard, but it built my character and made me a stronger person.
My family of five are my favorite people! My sweetheart is Brad and we've been married for 19 years. We have three amazing kiddos, Jackson (16), Addison (13), and Mckenzie (11). We love to go boating, eating out, hanging outside in the summer, binge watching shows on Netflix together, family movie nights, and anything that makes memories with each other. Our favorite vacation spots are Lake Powell or anywhere it is warm and has water.
Some things about me. I love to read, my favorite author is Jane Austen, I enjoy an occasional workout, being with family and best friends, watching my children excel, and am a soda enthusiast. I wasn't always an avid reader and then I discovered historical fiction and my love for reading took off. Once I dove into historical fiction and read a lot of books there I ventured off into other genres and my love grew for them as well. The saying, "There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book," by Frank Serafini was true for me and I believe 100% in that philosophy. Some of my favorite children's books are "Wonder", "The War That Saved My life", "Princess Academy", "The Candy Shop War", "Mr. Lemoncello's Library", and many more.
I am in my second year as a Head Librarian and have absolutely love it! I was offered the Library Aide job at my previous school and was there for four years. I really enjoyed working in the library, love the librarian I worked with, and being at the same school as my own children, but I kept wanting more and that led me here to Dry Creek Elementary. I love being a Dry Creek Owl! One of my most favorite things is seeing a book light up a student's face and having kids come to me saying how much they enjoyed the book they finished and can't wait to get ahold of another one. Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I love that I get to pass that on to others.
