Stringing Beads

Lacing beads onto string can help develop bilateral coordination skills (using both sides of the body). Making it play-based and fun can increase your child's attentiveness!

Ideas for bilateral coordination activities:

  • lacing

  • stringing beads or noodles onto string or pipe cleaners

  • buttoning

  • Etch-a-sketch

  • hammering toys

  • nuts and bolts

  • Pushing small items into Play-doh (pennies, beads, etc)

  • Pop tubes

  • Legos

  • Using clothes pins to attach items to a string

  • Pulling marker lids on and off

  • Ripping or crumpling paper for arts and crafts

  • Tossing a ball back and forth or juggling

  • Balloon volleyball

  • Sorting items into multiple containers

  • Leaf rubbings using the side of a crayon

  • Putting stickers on a worksheet or booklet

  • Putting coins in a slot

  • Creating with playdough
