Teacher example
The Goal:
Students used what they learned when making a slime bounce and created a more complex movement for a character they designed.
We looked at the concept commonly used in video game design called the "idle animation"–an animation that plays when the player character is not performing other actions like running or jumping.
Big Ideas:
Idle animations can give a character lots of personality and show us something we might not normally see.
Essential Questions:
How would my character logically move?
Studio Habits of Mind:
Develop Craft: I can keep a character consistent and recognizable through the duration of the animation.
Engage and Persist: I can work through the challenges in making a complex or multi-part animation.
Express: I can show my character's personality through its actions.
Observe: I can see how changes I make to individual frames of the animation affect the overall look and feel of the movement.
Understand the Art World: I can notice when idle animations are used in media.
