The Goal:
We started off with a twist on a classic animation exercise—the bouncing ball. In our version of the exercise, the ball is given slimy, Flubber-like sentience.
Big Ideas:
All materials react to outside forces in unique and observable ways. Slime is different than concrete is different than cloth, etc.
Essential Questions:
How can we add specificity and personality to something as simple as a green slime ball? How is this done in media? (Flubber 1997)
Studio Habits of Mind:
Develop Craft: I can identify and use the parts of the Aseprite program's interface.
Engage and Persist: I can practice not giving up when I encounter a part of the workflow that doesn't make sense to me.
Stretch and Explore: I can imagine how a slime would react to outside forces.
Envision: I can plan how my animation will look before I start working.
