Intermediate Band combined forces with Advanced Band to perform at the AACA Christmas Celebration on December 21st, 2023. As 1st grade and middle school drama students told the story of the nativity, the band and 2nd-6th grade students performed Christmas carols to tell the story through music. We played the Ukrainian Christmas song Carol of the Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

REFLECT: What has been your favorite song this trimester?
"Casey's Last Run, because it is a longer song and everyone has their own role, and it's also more of a dramatic sounding song."
"Definitely Casey's Last Run. I like how it sounds like an actual train and how diverse the different roles are. I also like the story behind the parts and how every note we play tells it."
"Casey's Last Run, because it's really fun to do and, for me at least, I get to play three different instruments that are fun to play. It also sounds really good."
"Casey's Last Run, because it was complex."
ENGAGE & PERSIST: What skill or song has challenged you this trimester?
"I felt like a struggled with the higher notes and would like to continue developing in that category."
"One thing that has challenged me is the new notes."
"The flat, sharp, and natural symbols are hard to learn and play."
"The Noble Duke of York, because the amount of times we have to play really high notes makes my buzz slow down."
"The high notes have challenged me the most because you have to use a lot of air really fast, but I've been pushing through."
ENVISION: What do you want to improve on in band during the third trimester?
"I want to work on my high notes because sometimes I have trouble with playing them."
"One thing that I want to improve on is switching between high and low notes faster. I also want to learn to keep my air flow steady when playing high notes."
"Expanding my range in low notes."
