Volunteering in a post-disaster environment can be incredibly rewarding and equally challenging. To prepare you for this experience you’re required to complete 5 key training courses to confirm your place on our program. Detailed steps on how to start this training will be shared in your invitation email. You’ll be given 7 days to complete the training. The duration for the completion of all courses is approximately two hours and can be completed over multiple sessions.

The mandatory training includes the following courses: 

• VOLUNTEERING 101 

An introduction to All Hands and Hearts and a life on our program. 

• WORKING WITH DISASTER-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES: VOLUNTEER INTRODUCTION  

Offers an introductory understanding of the experience of disaster-affected communities, and the humanitarian standards which guide how we should support them

• SUPPORTING AN INCLUSIVE CULTURE: AN INTRODUCTION

This course raises the cultural awareness and sensitivity topic (base and community) and also explains  how to foster an inclusive environment on base and on-site

• VOLUNTEER WELLBEING: AN INTRODUCTION

Here we will talk about communal living and its challenges such as managing and recognizing stress. We will learn how to set healthy boundaries on program. 

• PROMOTING A CULTURE OF SAFETY AND RESPECT

This training includes information about safeguarding, sexual misconduct and reporting, and our other relevant policies (expectations on conduct).
