Our goal is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for the students of the community of San Bartolo Teontepec in the state of Puebla.
This program will engage local community members to rebuild 2 new classrooms, 1 teacher room, 1 Toilet, maintenance to an existing classroom facility, implement 2 new Water Harvesting systems (Safe and accessible WASH facilities, increased availability of water, sanitary facilities and education should help to reduce water-borne illness), 1 playground and repair of perimeter fence for 1 community impacting +272 students and 11 teachers, while increasing community capacity, and engaging volunteers and local community.

For example, in our previous Mexico program, the day started at around 5:40 am when our team woke up to eat breakfast and get ready for work. Typically the work day on site is from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. After you return home from the worksite, there will be a mandatory volunteer meeting at 5:00 pm and then you will have a chance to unwind, relax and reflect on your day.
Dinner is served around 5:30 pm. All volunteers must be back on base for curfew by 9:00 pm and quiet hours also begin at 9:00 pm. There is usually an activity in the evening such as movie night, lotteria, trivia or sometimes just swapping travel stories and getting to know the community members or staff and volunteers from around the world.
While we provide adequate water breaks and there are some shaded areas of site, please come prepared for sun, high temperatures, humidity, and heavy rain at the construction site. This is a physically demanding and challenging work environment.
