Can I bring anything for the program? We have a wishlist where you can find all our most needed items!
How many volunteers are on base at once? Up to 40 volunteers are housed on this base at any one time; this can vary over the course of the program. The number of volunteers will generally be split across three separate work sites.
Do I need any vaccinations? We require all volunteers and staff members to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Other than that, we strongly recommend our volunteers consult with their travel medical professional before travelling. As every individual has their own health needs and levels of acceptable risk, we encourage you to work with your medical professional to decide on the best preventative measures for you.
How do I confirm my spot on the Philippines program? To confirm your spot, please fill out our online Waiver in your invitation email.
Can I extend my stay once I’m there? After your minimum one-week stay, we encourage you to extend your stay with us. Providing there is availability, you are welcome to extend. If this is something you may be interested in, consider initially purchasing a one-way ticket to the Philippines or a flexible return ticket.
How do I exchange money in-country? The Philippine peso (currency code: PHP) is the official currency of the Philippines. The colorful notes come in denominations of 10 (not common), 20, 50, 100, 200 (not common), 500, and 1,000. The peso is further divided into 100 centavos. However, you'll rarely deal with or encounter these fractional amounts. You can withdraw currency from local ATMs across the country. Exchange rates are competitive, and ATMs are easily accessible in Manila, Cebu, Maasin, Sogod and Tacloban cities. Please withdraw enough money before arriving at the project. Fees from the ATM and your home bank may apply.
Can I leave the program early? We currently require a minimum one-week commitment (6 working days). However, if an unexpected circumstance arises, we will do all that we can to support you if you need to return home.
Will there be time to rest? The work week will run from Monday to Saturday, and everyone will take Sunday off work to rest. In addition to the weekends, all volunteers will be asked to take a mandatory three-day break every 30 days to allow time for physical and mental rest and seven days break if you stay on the program for more than three months.
Can I bring anything for the program? We have a wishlist where you can find our most needed items! We would be very grateful if you can bring a few items along with you as a donation for the program.
What do I need to do in preparation for arrival? (temp checks, testing)
