BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Location: Our base will be located on Carriacou Island. We recommend flying to Maurice Bishop International Airport in Grenada. From there, you need to take a ferry to Carriacou Island, which goes only once a day.
Cost: Free! We provide 3 meals a day on each working day, and accommodation for the duration of your stay. Volunteers are responsible for all other expenses.
Work Days: 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday)
Arrival days: Monday through Friday
Time Commitment: Two weeks
Accommodation: We will be sleeping on the floor of a house. Volunteers need to bring a sleeping mat and a sleeping bag - these can not be purchased locally! We will have access to a toilet and shower, however, everything is running off generators so water and electricity will be limited.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated.
WiFi: Wifi isn’t available on base, however, you can purchase a local SIM card in Grenada Mainland. Digicel is the only network that currently works on Carriacou Island.
Access: There are no ATMs and few shops available on the island of Carriacou. You have to withdraw cash in Grenada. Carriacou Island is heavily cash-based. Very basic supplies will be available on Carriacou and most have long queues and waiting times, so prepare anything you might need to buy before coming to the island.
