The AP United States Boot Camp will introduce the necessary skills to be successful in an Advanced Placement history course. The camp will focus on supporting students in reading a complex academic text for meaning, note taking/study skills and analyzing primary source documents for meaning and writing a thesis. Each of these skills will be needed to successfully complete the summer work as well as all course work. Students will be introduced to the skill and have the opportunity for guided practice with the teacher as well as independent practice (with teacher support) as they apply the skill as they work on the summer work.

In this workshop, students will explore a variety of drawing media and methods. We will experiment with graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, pastel, markers, and water media. We will practice and learn about mixing media and a variety of genres, such as still life, landscape, portraits, and abstraction. This workshop is intended to support students going into AP Art and Design by encouraging the skills of practice, experimentation, and revision with art media in an engaging environment through play, discussion, and reflection.

This workshop will review some of the topics that the students need to know in order to prepare them for AP Chemistry II. I will be doing a lab with them each day and covering material that was not covered during their Chemistry I course.
