About this Course: Interview a partner about their typical morning routine on a school day. Then use the Design Thinking model to gain empathy and insight into the needs of your client. Students will brainstorm a variety of possible solutions, present these to their partners for feedback, and then move on to develop a more detailed proposal. Once that is approved by their partner, students design and build prototypes of their inventions to present to their partners and classmates, along with branding ideas, pricing, and a sales pitch. (Students really enjoy getting to take home the inventions their partners have made for them.)
Learning Intentions/Targets:
Materials Needed: You provide your own materials from whatever is readily available in your classroom just like you’d do for your students! Things like paper, pipe cleaners, masking tape, yarn, old DVD/CDs, cardboard, felt scraps, paper clips, plastic lids, recycled materials...whatever oddball items you have one hand will work!
