Differentiation for Gifted and Talented

About this Course: We’ll begin with a refresher of Kentucky’s Gifted and Talented regulation, including Primary Talent Pool and some insights into giftedness. Next, we’ll take a look at a variety of differentiation strategies for use in the classroom including curriculum compacting, independent studies, tiered assignments, student choice menus, and more.
Learning Intentions/Targets:
Participants will know the five (5) areas of giftedness identified in the state of Kentucky and the basic characteristics of each category.
Participants will gain empathy and new insights into giftedness by listening to the thoughts and feelings of gifted students.
Participants will learn practical and relatively simple differentiation strategies they can put into practice in their classroom instruction.
