Here at ACPC we services students in a variety of ways utilizing...
*one on one brief counseling- Sometimes, students may need more than small group counseling or may grow more in a one-on-one environment. Sometimes, a student may have an immediate problem that they need assistance with right away. These are the times that individual counseling comes in to play. Usually, we meet with students and counsel individually for about 25-30 minutes. Students can refer themselves, be referred by a teacher, or be referred by a parent. If you believe your student would benefit from individual counseling, please do not hesitate to contact Erica Ausbrooks erica.ausbrooks@allen.kyschools.us or Ashley Tabor ashley.tabor@allen.kyschools.us. We can assist students with things like anxiety, self-esteem, anger, friendships, grief, organization, creating goals, divorce, and many other topics.
*small groups- consists of 6-8 students and focuses on one specific problem. These groups can be very helpful because sometimes, knowing that you are not the only one going through something can be eye-opening and helpful. In a small group, students learn more about each other and themselves through activities that focus on coping strategies and building relationships. These groups usually last six weeks.
*whole group classroom counseling-Classroom counseling is when we get in a whole class and teach a lesson. We focus on a variety of topics such as emotions, conflict resolution, growth mindset, following directions, responsibility, career exploration, kindness and emotional regulation. We go into classrooms 2 times a month. These lessons last around thirty minutes each. This is a chance for us to get to know ALL the students at ACPC.
