In Year 12, students develop an understanding of different opportunities. As the year goes on, their focus narrows towards what they can do to best prepare for their future ambitions.
In term one of Year 12, the Future Pathways programme focuses on A-Level choices, looking specifically through the lenses of University requirement around the world. Students are introduced to the UK, USA, European, Malaysian and other countries as possible University destinations. Students are also given a taste of what a University lecture might be like, and we welcome academics and admissions tutors from top universities for talks and Q & A's, like the ones found here on our FAQ page.
In term 2 of Year 12, the focus shifts to Careers. Students complete a CV, and have a careers interview, usually with an Alumni, to gain important practice in an interview situation, and developing thier confidence. Check out our Career Guidance page for more information.
In term 3 of Year 12, students are now put on a personalised pathway depending on where they are interested in applying. Students will be given tasks such as completing sections of the UCAS form, or drafting a common prompt, or researching Universities in Australia, depending on thier own individual pathway. Lessons are supported by regular one to one contact with the HE team.
Students continue of their own personalised pathway, and are fully supported by the HE team as they make their University applications across the world.
The HE department also help students find alternative pathways, whether that is into direct employment, or pre-University training, the Military, or whatever might be the right fit for them.
