What will I study in Year 8?
Students begin by studying urban environments comes next, particularly focusing on population and settlement in Rio de Janiero in Brazil. Following on from this is a unit on international development, which incorporates a range of development issues including migration, globalization, rights to natural resources and economic activity in China.
A decision-making trip to Gressenhall Rural Life Museum is run in the summer term, inviting students to consider arguments for and against a proposed housing development.
Physical geography forms the remainder of year 8, with studies into earthquakes, volcanoes, tropical storms and coasts.
Core knowledge is vital to your long term learning in geography.
The booklet contains the essential knowledge we would like all year 8 students to have by the end of the year.
