When I think of Kayla’s time in our program I think of her game winning at-bat against Pembroke her sophomore season here at home. With the bases loaded in a tie game, Kayla worked the count from 1 ball, 2 strikes to a full count. Many hitters get nervous or anxious in that spot and swing at almost anything. Not Kayla. She took some close pitches, and fouled off another before earning a game winning walk.

That type of at bat was common throughout her career. The ability to grind during each and every at bat has effectively worn off on her teammates and has caught the eye of opposing coaches, who voted her a GR All-Star in 2019 and would have surely been named once again this season.
