GEMS 2023 in Auburn
The fourth and final GEMS Expo of 2023 was held at E.W. Shell Fisheries at Auburn University on March 16, 2023. Participants enjoyed an inspiring keynote speech from Brittney Z. Heard, M.D., who works at Pinnacle Cardiovascular Associates and specializes in cardiac electrophysiology. Then, GEMS Teams shared their projects for viewing during the project showcase. GEMS teams finished the day by touring the wet labs, greenhouse, and fish ponds located at E.W. Shell Fisheries!
About the Day
GEMS will explore aquatic mesocosms and habitats through experiential activities including:
Exploring research labs dedicated to aquaculture, fisheries management, and aquatic sciences.
Investigating how aquatic organisms live and the natural resources upon which they depend.
Interacting with females specializing in STEM fields.
