ALEDO BASKETBALL TRYOUTS                                    

Basketball tryouts dates procedures expectations.

7th Grade-Wednesday October 28th 2026

During tryouts players will be evaluated on skill, basketball IQ, and effort. Skills will consist of layups, shooting, and ball handling. Players will be put through drills and controlled scrimmage settings that allow coaches to evaluate their understanding of basketball concepts, such as spacing, timing, tempo, in-game use of skill, and rules. 

Tryouts for Wednesday doors open @7:15 Practice time @7:30-9:15. Athletes will need to enter through the doors on the south side of AMS by the tennis courts for drop off. Please come dressed out. Athletes must be dressed out in proper attire. Black shorts, gray shirt. 

Attitude, effort, classroom character, and grades will all be a part of the evaluation process included with the skills assessment listed above. 

November 2nd-6th door will open @7:15 Practice time @7:30-9:15 for the rest of week. 1st cuts will be made by no later than November 3rd.  With the 2nd and final cut if needed by November 6th.

8th Grade- Wednesday October 28th 2026 tryouts will be from 3:25-5:15

Friday October 30th we will be out at 4:10 due to football games 

During tryouts players will be evaluated on skill, basketball IQ, and effort. Skills will consist of layups, shooting, and ball handling. Players will be put through drills and controlled scrimmage settings that allow coaches to evaluate their understanding of basketball concepts, such as spacing, timing, tempo, in-game use of skill, and rules. 

There will be at least 2 cuts possible 3 to determine the final 30 in each grade. 1st cuts will be made by no later than November 3rd.  With the 2nd and  (3rd) final cut if needed by November 7th.

Athletes must be dressed out in proper attire. Black shorts, gray shirt. 

Attitude, effort, classroom character, and grades will all be a part of the evaluation process included with the skills assessment listed above. 

Starting November 2nd  practice will be from 3:25 to 5:15 during the week with the exception of Fridays they will get out at the bell 4:10. 

Once final cuts are made there will be a parent square group for each 7th and 8th grade. Coaches will communicate through the app for practice/updates and food drop off times/departure. Weekly practice schedules will be posted on sports you as well.
