Aldersgate is dedicated to making our congregation an open and affirming space, celebrating all people as beloved children of God, and actively working to dismantle barriers of prejudice to live out the Gospel's call for justice, mercy, and radical hospitality.
Land Acknowledgement
Aldersgate United Methodist Church recognizes that we reside on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish Tribe (Dkhw Duw’Absh). A people that are still here, continuing to honor and bring to light their ancient heritage. We give thanks to the stewards of this land, past and present. We acknowledge the harm done by the United Methodist Church to Indigenous Nations across the globe, and are dedicated to repairing our relationship with our fellow children of God. To learn more about and advocate for the federal recognition of the Duwamish Tribe’s people, culture, heritage, and land, please visit https://www.duwamishtribe.org/.

Disability Inclusion Statement
"We recognize that God made all creation and saw that it was good. As a diverse people of God who bring special gifts and evidences of God's grace to the unity of the Church and to society, we are called to be faithful to the example of Jesus' ministry to all persons.....Acknowledging that the church has been divided for too long on the basis of perceived differences, we commit ourselves to the removal of every barrier that separates one from another within the body of Christ, including ableism, heterosexism, racism, sexism, misogyny, tribalism, and all other forms of xenophobia. By the power of Christ’s redeeming and sanctifying love, we commit ourselves to grow in love and understanding until all of the walls that divide us are finally cast down." UMC Book of Discipline, Section 6, ¶ 140 (2024).
