Interarts, founded in 1995, is a not-for-profit private agency with international projection that: contributes to human development through culture, supports the design of cultural policies, promotes knowledge and information in the field of culture, advocates for the role of culture in public governance, networks at European and international levels. From its headquarters in Barcelona, with an interdisciplinary staff, Interarts carries out its international activity through and with an extensive network of partner organisations and professionals from Europe as well as from different countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean.
Interarts believes that culture is an enabler of sustainable development, as a tool for capacity building, and as means to reinforce cooperation, citizens’ participation, social inclusion, and international relations. Its projects are designed and implemented based on these assumptions.
It has experience in :
supporting community-based initiatives to develop safe spaces for dialogue and strengthening multi-stakeholder national and transnational cooperation;
increasing people’s awareness about contemporary challenges and stimulating their active participation in society;
research and consultancy as regards the different challenges faced by cultural institutions and the cultural and creative sectors in the last decade;
fostering the cultural and creative sectors in Europe and in third countries as a means to contribute to sustainable socio-economic growth and social cohesion by fostering their innovation and supporting sustainability and innovation.
Interarts strives for the cultural sector through networking and advocacy: it ensures the presidency of the Biennale of Young Creators of Europe and the Mediterranean (BJCEM); it is member of Anna Lindh Foundation Spanish Network, and the International Association of Women’s Museums (IAWM).
