The Local Labs were established in four European towns to co-produce local policies for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This transnational initiative aimed to enhance the quality of youth work across participating countries by facilitating the exchange of experiences and comparing approaches among youth workers. Each Local Lab involved 15 young people and 2 youth workers or local agents, forming a Core Group responsible for co-designing a participation process.
In the initial phase, the Local Labs focused on creating a work and follow-up plan, outlining steps to define the Youth Participation Plans (YPP) and methods to be used. Youth workers provided necessary information, resources, and guidance, fostering discussions and documenting outcomes. These Local Labs enabled practical implementation of co-design processes, actively involving young people, especially those from disadvantaged groups, in developing and evaluating local policies to achieve SDGs.
