Schoology is known as a Learning Management System (LMS) its job is to house the Materials and Activities that students will complete while they complete a course. It is built from your child's Power School schedule. Typically you will see an English or ELA course, a Math Course, a Science Course and a Social Studies Course. You will also see elective courses like Art, Computers, Music, and Gym.
Students Login to Schoology at https://albion.schoology.com . They will use a login and password provided by the district.
Students will see each of the courses that they are enrolled in. When they click on the course they will typically see a list of materials. They are organized in folders, either by topic or date. Student start with the documents at the top of the list and work their way down to the bottom of the list. A quick video about Schoology can be found here.
Students will be reading, or watching videos, completing assignments, and taking quizzes, all online. Teachers will collect these assignments and quizzes electronically. Grades will be assigned and they will show up in Power School. The Student Help page will provide more detailed information about what each component of Schoology does and how to complete the typical tasks that teachers will assign.
Grades are an important part of education, they are how teachers let parents and students now how the student is doing in the course that they are taking. Grades for individual items are shown to the student in schoology but Power School is the one and only gradebook. It is here that you will have access to a students report card each and every day, not once every ten weeks.
