Subject Selections
Year 9 into 10 subject selection guidelines
Year 9 students will submit their Year 10 subject selections by Friday July 14.
Step 1: Determine sequence of study
Select a sequence of study from the following:-
Year 10 Program
Students will select the following:-
A Maths subject and an English subject are compulsory.
Four subject preferences plus two backup preferences from at least two different curriculum areas.
All subjects are at the Year 10 level.
Pre IB Program
Students will select the following:
Two subjects from the Pre IB program (plus one Pre IB back-up subject)
One Unit 1 & 2 subject (plus one Unit 1 & 2 back-up subject)
Year 10 Mathematics Advanced (compulsory for progression to the IB Diploma Programme)
Two subjects from the range of year 10 subjects (plus one back-up subject)
Three Year VCE
Students will select the following:
One Unit 1 & 2 subject - either VCE or VET (plus one Unit 1 & 2 backup subject)
A year 10 English and Maths subject
Three subjects preferences plus two back-up subjects from at least two different curriculum areas.
Step 2: Investigate subject choices
Using this handbook, students will read through the range of subjects on offer to determine suitable subject choices.
Step 3: Course Counselling
Students and parents will discuss subject choices in their Course Counselling appointment.
Step 4: Submit subject selections
Students will be emailed with login details for the Edval subject selection platform. Using these details, students will select their Year 10 subject preferences.
Step 5: Subject Confirmation
Students will be notified of their confirmed subjects via email in term 4.
Year 10 into 11 subject selection guidelines
Year 10 students will submit their Year 11 subject selections by Friday August 4.
Step 1: Determine Senior Years Program
Students can select either the VCE or IB Diploma Programme for their Year 11 and 12 studies.
Step 2: Investigate subject choices
Using this handbook, students will read through the range of subjects on offer to determine suitable subject choices, taking into account their strengths, interests and potential university prerequisites.
Step 3: Course Counselling
Students and parents will discuss subject choices in their Course Counselling appointment in term 3.
Step 4: Submit subject selections
Students will be emailed with login details for the Edval subject selection platform. Using these details, students will select their Year 11 subject preferences.
Step 5: Subject Confirmation
Students will be notified of their confirmed subjects via email in term 4.
Year 11 into 12 subject selection guidelines
Year 11 students will submit their Year 12 subject selections by Friday August 4.
Step 1: Determine Year 12 subjects
IB Diploma Programme students will continue with their current six subjects into Year 12.
VCE students will undertake five subjects in Year 12. Those who will have completed a Unit 3 & 4 subject at the end of Year 11 will continue with their other five subjects into Year 12. Those who will not have completed a Unit 3 & 4 subject at the end of Year 11 will select one of their subjects to discontinue with in Year 12.
Step 2: Investigate subject choices
Students are strongly encouraged to continue their current subjects into Year 12. If a subject change is necessary, students must read through the description in this handbook of any subject they select. Students selecting a new subject in Year 12 must notify the Course Counsellor they meet with and this will be at the approval of the Curriculum team.
Step 3: Course Counselling
Students and parents will discuss subject choices and post-school study plans in their Course Counselling appointment.
Step 4: Submit subject selections
Students will be emailed with login details for the Edval subject selection platform. Using these details, students will select their Year 12 subject preferences.
Step 5: Subject Confirmation
Students will be notified of their confirmed subjects via email in term 4.
