VCE

Introduction to VET

VCE VET programs are vocational training programs approved by the VCAA following consultation with schools, industry and training providers. VET (Vocational Education and Training) refers to any TAFE course that is aimed at preparing students for the workforce. The VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) program allows students to undertake a certificate level course part-time over two years as part of their VCE or VCE VM studies

Most VET subjects can contribute to the ATAR and students should make sure they are aware of the requirements of the course before applying. Some courses will have a VCAA exam, compulsory work placement or compulsory classes during the school holiday period.

Albert Park College partners with a range of TAFE instituted and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to facilitate VET courses for students. Students can only undertake a VET course with an approved partner TAFE or RTO and with approval by the school. Students will only be approved to study a VET course if it takes place on Wednesday afternoons and works with the Albert Park College timetable, attendance in APC classes is a priority.

Enrolment into VET courses is determined by the TAFE or RTO provider, and places in VET courses cannot be guaranteed.
