Workshop Slides from First Robotics BC - firstroboticsbc.org
We have met after the season with the hope of making even better robots, learning new skills, and sharing what we have learned. Specifically, we have goals of learning how to use sensors, use CAD software for robot design, and program in Javascript. At the competitions, we saw all the cool robots use Mecanum wheels that let the robot move in any direction without turning. We have the parts and are building it.
Google has provided the majority of our funding through an ORTOP team support grant.
ORTOP - ortop.org - ORTOP has provided the main grant along with giving and loaning materials throughout the season. In particular, ORTOP loaned us a full set of field tiles as they were not available to order.
SWARM 957 FRC Team - team957.com - SWARM mentors approached us last Spring and into the fall with the opportunity and contacts to start an FTC team.
In November, a crew of 5 SWARM members visited our meeting and helped to set up part of the practice field which had been a task that we had stalled on. That helped immensely.
Field tiles were out of stock at the time and we did not get loaner field tiles until 2 weeks before our first league competition. Right in the middle of us focusing on the robot.
Philomath High Robotics and Engineering Division (PHRED) teams 8892 and 24195 - Many thanks to our closest FTC neighbors for putting together a scrimmage on November 4, 2023 at Philomath High School. The experience was incredibily valuable for our rookie team. We even received some programming help from the younger and more capable PHRED2.0.
Many thanks to I Do Thinz for sharing his drone launcher designs. We 3-D printed and used his V3 design in our last competition. It scored 30 points in the last round making one of the finals teams take us on as an ally!
The FIRST Robotics team SWARM 957 has invited the team to be a part of outreach events and team meetings. We have transferred a core set of robotics parts over to the SWARM hive at WAHS for team members to keep on learning, planning, and building.
