Project i-SPARRC is a $1.3M personnel preparation 5-year grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education. The primary aim of the project is to increase school psychologists across the state of Alaska who provide comprehensive psychological services to school districts.
Project Goals:
Recruit, retain, and graduate 24 scholars to participate in a new Alaska-based school psychology training program over four years.
Train scholars who have the knowledge and skills of evidence-based practices in (a) trauma informed care, and (b) culturally and linguistically informed assessment, intervention, and behavioral and mental health services to support children and youth with high-intensity needs.
Track scholar data on the delivery of EBPs for children and youth with high-intensity needs, such as autism spectrum disorder, emotional disturbance, multiple disabilities, and other health impairment (i.e., severe ADHD and other conditions).
Implement a distance delivered supervision model and a Community of Practice for field supervisors.
Support scholars to obtain their Alaska Type C Special Services - School Psychologist endorsement and apply for their Nationally Credentialed School Psychologist (NCSP) license.
