Stress and Mental Health Support

We all experience stressful and difficult events as a normal part of life, and sometimes we need help getting through challenging times. In college, you may experience academic stress, sleep problems, juggling responsibilities, life events, relationship concerns, or feelings of anxiety, hopelessness, or depression. As your instructor, I believe your mental health is an important part of your academic success. Recognize that stress is an expected part of the college experience, but it can be compounded by unexpected setbacks or life changes outside the classroom. If you or a friend is struggling, I strongly encourage you to seek support. You can always contact me, and there are also other free, helpful resources available on campus:

Academic Advising:

If you are experiencing academic stress or having difficulty with a course or a professor, please reach out to your academic advisor. Not sure who your advisor is? Use the Who is My Advisor? tool on the Academic Advising website.

Counseling Services:

Based in Juneau but offered regionally, Counseling Services is a confidential resource. Information shared with Counseling Services staff will not be shared with anyone else unless you give your express permission.
