LS 111: Library Information Literacy for E-Learners

Deadlines, Extensions & Incompletes:

Each week has a due date for assignments to help you stay on track. Please try to turn in your work on or before the due date if possible. There will be no grade penalty for turning in work late, but falling behind may impact your ability to be successful in the class. When possible, please let me know ahead of time if you need extra time for an assignment.

We all sometimes have outside circumstances that can impact our ability to meet deadlines, especially right now. Please let me know if you find yourself in a situation where you need additional time or support, or if you fall behind and need a plan to get caught up. I am here to help you be successful, but it is harder for me to help you if I don’t know that you need support.

You may request a course grade of "incomplete" and work out a later date by which the coursework will be completed if you experience significant illness, family illness, or a major life-impacting event during the course period and you are in good standing. This means you have been completing weekly assignments up to the time of the life-event, making consistent effort toward reaching course goals, and have a grade of C (70%) or better in the course at the time the incomplete grade is requested. If you find yourself in a situation that could qualify for an incomplete, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss this option.

Academic Integrity:

Academic integrity is an essential component of any learning environment. I want you to be successful in this course, and there are many opportunities for assistance. Achieving grades that do not represent your own work is not true success. Stress, lack of sleep, demands beyond being a student, and completing assignments at the last minute can contribute to poor decision making. If you find yourself tempted to cross the line, I encourage you to contact me so that we can strategize, discuss ways you can enhance your own learning experiences, and make you truly successful. If I have concerns that your work contains plagiarized or copied content, I will initiate a conversation with you to discuss those concerns and determine next steps. Work that is plagiarized or copied will not be eligible for course credit, but you may have the opportunity to redo or revise work and re-submit it.

Students with Disabilities:

My Commitment:

I do my best to make this class as accessible as possible to all students. All videos are captioned. Readings, assignments, and Blackboard materials should be screen-reader compatible. If you run into any issues accessing course materials, please contact me right away, and I will address the problem. If you need additional accommodations due to a disability, please contact the UAS Disability Services office as soon as possible. Their contact information is below - they can notify all of your professors of your accommodations needs and help make sure that you have what you need to be successful.

UAS Disability Services:

If you experience a disability and would like information about accommodations, please contact Disability Services, located at the Student Resource Center in the Mourant building. Phone # 907-796-6000. You can find more information on the Disability Services website and through their Student FAQ page.
