All images, figures, links, and other objects that have meaningful content must include alternate text.
To add alternate text:
> Tools Pane
> Accessibility
> Set Alternative Text
> OK
The Set Alternative Text dialogue box will open with an area to add text. The corresponding image will be highlighted in blue within the document. Enter a concise description of each image. Navigate between images using the arrows at the top of the dialogue box. Progress is recorded in the dialogue box in between the navigation arrows showing the image X out of Y number. Once alternative text has been added to each image > Save and Close.
Guidelines for the use of alternative text for all images, figures, links, and other objects:
Meaningful information about the object must be included in the written in the alternative text fields with the following exception: if the object has a caption that fully describes the information the being conveyed, the actual object can be tagged as an artifact (for instructions on how to tag as an artifact see the General Tags #2 Document has Decorative Content in this Guide). If a caption is present but it does not fully describe the information in the object, alternative text is required.
There is no color contrast checker in Acrobat ProDC. This will require the use of an additional tool. The Educational Technology Team recommends the Color Contrast Analyzer from the Paciello Group version 2.5.0.
